Role Summary

Spoilz is seeking a Game Designer to help bring to life the next generation of mobile-first, social-first, emotionally resonant games – including an exciting new title designed to blend learning with play for younger audiences.
You’ll collaborate with a cross-functional team to design joyful, meaningful gameplay systems that resonate with players globally and regionally. Whether you’re mid-career, senior, or ready to lead, we’re looking for someone who combines playful imagination with practical execution – especially when designing for diverse audiences across age groups and cultural contexts.
This role is ideal for designers who love exploring the intersection of fun and learning, and who are confident in shaping accessible, engaging, and socially meaningful mobile games.

Key Responsibilities

  • Concept and prototype game mechanics that combine entertainment with meaningful engagement
  • Design for casual and midcore mobile genres, with a focus on accessible and age-appropriate systems
  • Translate insights from playtests, feedback, and behavioral data into actionable design improvements
  • Write clear, concise documentation and specs that align engineering, art, and production
  • Build and balance progression systems, puzzles, and feedback loops suited to players aged 6–12
  • Champion player safety, accessibility, and culturally thoughtful design across all systems
  • Design intuitive systems that allow for player creativity and user-generated content
  • Lead or mentor junior designers, depending on experience level
  • Participate in live operations planning, content pacing, and economy design for mobile games

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in mobile game design for Intermediate; 4+ for Senior; 6+ including team leadership for Lead
  • Strong understanding of game loops, player progression, system and level design
  • Experience designing for casual or midcore mobile titles (e.g. puzzle, idle, narrative, roguelite, match-3, word)
  • Comfortable working with Unity and cross-functional teams
  • Experience or interest in designing for younger players and/or learning outcomes
  • Experience designing for user-generated content, player creativity, or sandbox systems
  • Collaborative, low-ego, and open to feedback and iteration
  • Able to think analytically and creatively, drawing from both data and instinct
  • Competence in English language.

Preferred

  • Experience designing for children aged 6–12
  • Familiarity with STREAM concepts or educational content in games
  • Background in accessibility and child-friendly UX/UI
  • Cultural fluency in GCC and/or broader MENA region
  • Arabic language proficiency
  • Experience in Figma and rapid prototyping
  • Personal prototype or playable demo
  • Familiarity with AI, vibe coding / prompt-based systems
  • Knowledge of ethical design practices for kids and families
