Role Summary
As a LiveOps engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring our live game environment is stable, secure, and always available for our global player base, with a major focus on the production phase of a game’s lifecycle, while ensuring a smooth run of the staging phase for the development team. This is your chance to satisfy the needs for the development team and directly impact the player experience positively while contributing to a thriving online community.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor game servers and services 24/7 to identify and resolve issues in real-time.
- Coordinate and execute seamless releases of new game content, patches, and updates.
- Develop and maintain tools and scripts to automate routine operational tasks, from server scaling to data backups.
- Manage and fine-tune our cloud infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and cost efficiency.
- Work closely with our development, QA, and product teams to ensure new features are scalable and reliable.
Requirements
- Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Go, etc.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Proven experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or TeamCity.
- Familiarity with container technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows environments.
- A deep understanding of what makes an online game successful.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Passion for video games and software development.
- Competence in English language.
Preferred
- Proven experience as a LiveOps engineer or similar role, ideally in the game industry.
- Contributed to at least one shipped title within professional settings.
- Knowledge of game development processes.
- Understanding of networking protocols, latency, and how they affect online multiplayer games.
- Hands-on experience with database administration, optimization, and scaling for large-scale applications.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and experience with DDoS mitigation or anti-cheat systems.
- Experience with data analysis tools and platforms (Tableau, Grafana) to transform raw data into actionable insights.
Nice to have
- Experience with console development kits and related tools.
- Knowledge of major game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Experience working with major online gaming services such as PlayFab, Nakama, Epic Online Services, etc.
