Role Summary
Spoilz is looking for a Technical Artist to bridge the gap between art and engineering on our next generation of mobile games. You’ll work closely with artists, animators, and programmers to build scalable, performant, and visually expressive systems – ensuring our Unity based stylised games run smoothly and look amazing across devices.
We’re especially interested in candidates who bring deep experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Animation systems
- Shader development
- Visual effects (VFX)
- Procedural tools
This is a hands-on role within a small, collaborative team, where your technical creativity will shape both our pipelines and the player experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in Unity to develop and maintain tools, systems, and shaders that support high-quality visuals and efficient workflows
- Collaborate with animators to support expressive character animation through rigs, blend shapes, or runtime systems
- Build or refine stylised VFX and shaders that enhance gameplay feedback and emotional tone
- Develop modular or procedural tools to empower artists and speed up content creation
- Support performance optimization across mobile platforms, particularly around animation, materials, and rendering
- Troubleshoot and debug visual or technical issues related to art assets in Unity
- Help establish and document best practices for the art/tech pipeline
- Contribute to early visual prototyping and help bring ideas to life quickly and playably
- Establish and onboard the creative team onto projects with clear foundations, ensuring each project is set up to scale smoothly as the team grows
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience as a Technical Artist in Unity game development
- Strong working knowledge of Unity’s rendering, animation, and VFX pipelines
- Proficient in C# scripting for tooling and asset workflows
- Hands-on experience in at least one of the following:
- Shader development (HLSL/Shader Graph)
- Real-time VFX (Particle systems, stylised FX)
- Character rigging and animation systems
- Modular content pipelines or procedural tools
- Able to work closely with artists and designers to make systems usable and artist-friendly
- Comfortable profiling and optimizing for mobile platforms
- A strong eye for visual polish, clarity, and performance trade-offs
- Curious, proactive, and collaborative by nature
Preferred
- Experience with stylised or character-driven mobile games
- Background in working with art direction to prototype new rendering or visual styles
- Experience with Unity’s Universal Render Pipeline (URP)
- Familiarity with UGC systems, runtime customization, or data-driven assets
- Cultural fluency in the GCC/MENA region
- Arabic language skills
