You’ll work closely with artists, animators, and programmers to build scalable, performant, and visually expressive systems – ensuring our Unity based stylised games run smoothly and look amazing across devices.
We’re especially interested in candidates who bring deep experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Animation systems

This is a hands-on role within a small, collaborative team, where your technical creativity will shape both our pipelines and the player experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in Unity to develop and maintain tools, systems, and shaders that support high-quality visuals and efficient workflows
  • Collaborate with animators to support expressive character animation through rigs, blend shapes, or runtime systems
  • Build or refine stylised VFX and shaders that enhance gameplay feedback and emotional tone
  • Develop modular or procedural tools to empower artists and speed up content creation
  • Support performance optimization across mobile platforms, particularly around animation, materials, and rendering
  • Troubleshoot and debug visual or technical issues related to art assets in Unity
  • Help establish and document best practices for the art/tech pipeline
  • Contribute to early visual prototyping and help bring ideas to life quickly and playably
  • Establish and onboard the creative team onto projects with clear foundations, ensuring each project is set up to scale smoothly as the team grows

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience as a Technical Artist in Unity game development
  • Strong working knowledge of Unity’s rendering, animation, and VFX pipelines
  • Proficient in C# scripting for tooling and asset workflows
  • Hands-on experience in at least one of the following:
    • Shader development (HLSL/Shader Graph)
    • Real-time VFX (Particle systems, stylised FX)
    • Character rigging and animation systems
    • Modular content pipelines or procedural tools
  • Able to work closely with artists and designers to make systems usable and artist-friendly
  • Comfortable profiling and optimizing for mobile platforms
  • A strong eye for visual polish, clarity, and performance trade-offs
  • Curious, proactive, and collaborative by nature

Preferred

  • Experience with stylised or character-driven mobile games
  • Background in working with art direction to prototype new rendering or visual styles
  • Experience with Unity’s Universal Render Pipeline (URP)
  • Familiarity with UGC systems, runtime customization, or data-driven assets
  • Cultural fluency in the GCC/MENA region
  • Arabic language skills

  • A bold creative studio with global ambition and cultural depth
  • Remote flexibility and diverse international team
  • Chance to build culturally resonant, globally loved games
  • Opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and personal growth

Animator

Job TypeWork Model
Full-timeOn-site, Remote, or Hybrid
LocationExperience Level
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Junior, Intermediate

Role Summary

Spoilz is looking for an Animator to join our team on a new character-driven mobile game – designed for younger players and built with care, charm, and expressive storytelling in mind.
The role will focus on animating gameplay characters, player avatars, and stylised in-game scenes. Our ideal candidate knows how to bring characters to life in gameplay – not through traditional cinematic rigs, but through expressive, modular movement that reacts to player input and feels joyful to watch.
You’ll be animating in your tool of choice (e.g. Blender or Maya), exporting into Unity, and working closely with the VP of Creative, AD, designers, tech artists, and other creatives to deliver animations that enhance the moment-to-moment experience of play.

Key Responsibilities

  • Animate gameplay characters with stylised, personality-rich motion that supports mechanics and player feedback
  • Create playful, emotive animations for avatars and scene-based interactions
  • Contribute to camera movement and scene animation for scripted sequences or reward moments
  • Use tools like Blender or Maya for rigging and animation, exporting cleanly into Unity
  • Implement and iterate animations within Unity using Animator Controllers, Timeline, and blend trees
  • Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure smooth animation integration and gameplay responsiveness
  • Develop animation libraries and systems that support reusable, modular animation logic
  • Bring fresh ideas for expression, humour, and energy through animation

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience animating for games in Unity
  • Strong portfolio showing stylised, expressive character animation in a game context
  • Proficient in Blender, Maya, or equivalent 3D animation tools
  • Experienced in exporting and implementing animations into Unity (Animator, Timeline, etc.)
  • Comfortable animating with creative constraints (e.g. stylised rigs, abstract proportions, non-human characters)
  • Able to prototype movement ideas quickly and iterate based on playtests
  • Collaborative and communicative—comfortable working across tech, art, and design
  • Passionate about character animation and delivering joyful player experiences

Preferred

  • Experience animating for younger audiences (ages 6–12)
  • Experience with modular character rigs and UGC-friendly animation systems
  • Knowledge of Unity animation scripting or procedural animation
  • Familiarity with camera animation and shot composition in Unity
  • Cultural fluency in GCC/MENA or Arabic language skills
  • Interest in education-through-play, playful storytelling, or kids’ media

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • A bold creative studio with global ambition and cultural depth
  • Remote flexibility and diverse international team
  • Chance to build culturally resonant, globally loved games
  • Opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and personal growth
